Shoe wars and the Derrick Rose injury.
Was a sad start to the NBA playoffs this week with Derrick Rose's season ending ACL injury. The incident has raised the profile on the high stakes in the shoe wars between Nike and Adidas.
First of all a rather careless and crass tweet from a Nike shoe designer (Rose wear's Adidas) criticising his choice of footwear via Sports Business Digest:
Digging a bit deeper, Bear Heiser uncovers some background on Rose's specific choice of footwear and speculates if his decision to wear not only a super light shoe, but also a size larger due to an injury actually contributed to his season ending injury. This time the source is apparently a Product Tester at Adidas:
